This session was both a celebration and a deep technical dive. We marked our 1-year anniversary, celebrated Pizza Day, and completed Chapter 7 of Mastering Bitcoin.

1. Chapter 7: Merkle Root, MAST & Taproot

  • Mastering Bitcoin: Chapter 7
    • Merkle Root — The data structure and its role in Bitcoin
    • MAST (Merkelized Abstract Syntax Trees) — Authorization and authentication for complex spend conditions
    • P2C (Pay to Contract) — The cryptographic primitive underlying Taproot
    • Taproot — How it combines MAST and P2C to enable two spend paths; advantages for complex treasury holdings

🌱 Community Growth Highlight

A highlight was hearing from Praise Unite, a community member building a Real World Asset (RWA) tokenization application that leverages Bitcoin's immutability — specifically signature verification, transaction hashes, and on-chain messaging — to verify and prove transfer of ownership for real-world assets like land, once government-certified. The Taproot session proved directly useful to his project.
